United Way

Parker won the cook-off competition for her pulled pork.

Research Centres

Psychology Prof. Hymie Anisman speaks to students about the Centre for Stress and Stress Management during Research Centres Day held on Nov. 25. An estimated 150 students, federal government officials and private industry representatives attended the event that highlighted the work of Carleton’s 26 research centres.

Remembrance Day

Carleton President Roseann O’Reilly Runte lays the first wreath during the Remembrance Day ceremony held at the flags outside the Azreili Pavillion. Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the staff, faculty and student unions. Approximately 200 people attended the ceremony.

The Ravens women’s and men’s water polo teams each took silver medals in the OUA championships hosted at Carleton on Nov. 22 and 23. Both teams were defending provincial champs and fought tough battles against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues teams. The Carleton men lost 7 to 6, and the women were defeated 13 to 9.

National Child Day

Third-year Carleton music student Angus Mortimer, who competed in the four-man kayak event at the Beijing Olympics, gave an inspirational speech in the Senate as part of the National Child Day celebration Nov. 21. He spoke about the values of dedication and hard work and how they apply in sport and in the classroom.
