Carleton has many dedicated employees. In each issue of Carleton NOW, we introduce a person or team from the Carleton community in an effort to showcase the outstanding individuals that contribute to the University’s many accomplishments.

Located on the first floor of the St. Pat’s Building, the Carleton University Art Gallery (CUAG) employs a team of passionate professionals who are dedicated to ensuring the Carleton community and the public have access to high-quality exhibitions.
CUAG staff attend to various tasks throughout the year. During the fall, CUAG’s Director, Diana Nemiroff, says the staff investigate inquiries from members of the public who want to donate artwork to the gallery. They select pieces that will help strengthen the collection of more than 27,000 works. Studio visits are scheduled with local artists to keep abreast of trends in the art world and to remain on the lookout for future exhibition ideas.
The team organizes work-study programs for undergraduate and graduate art history students, who gain hands-on experience in a professional setting as part of their academic training. Everyday tasks include answering emails from the public and ensuring the gallery runs smoothly, six days a week.
Nemiroff says she is pleased with the turnout at the opening exhibition in September, which featured artist Mark Ruwedel.
