On November 17, Carleton University hosted the seventh annual Visionary Seminar, organized by the Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills (OPAS).

The annual Visionary Seminar was initially created to provide a forum for industry leaders, university faculty, and students to discuss issues surrounding Canada’s economic future.

Carleton’s Bell Canada Theatre was filled beyond capacity. More than 400 students, faculty, staff, as well as members of the larger Carleton community attended the event to hear this year’s Visionary Award recipient, David Dodge, Governor of the Bank of Canada, present his vision of Canada’s financial future.

Dodge encouraged the audience to think and act globally, emphasizing the strengths and opportunities that lie in Canada’s diverse cultural fabric.

“The Sprott School of Business was proud to host such an interesting event that promotes dialogue between universities, business, and government,” says Christine Jackson, Associate Director of Professional Programs for the Sprott School of Business. “The event went off without a hitch...a technical feat considering Carleton produced a satellite feed and Webcast that were fed to 30 Canadian universities.”
